The Mystique of Adi Kailash

Situated in the majestic Vyas Valley of Uttarakhand's Pithoragarh district, Adi Kailash (also known as Chhota Kailash or Shiva Kailash) is a replica of Mount Kailash in Tibet. Standing at an imposing altitude of 6,191 meters, it is an ancient, highly revered pilgrimage site holding immense spiritual significance in Hinduism.

The Miracle of Om Parvat

Located near the Indo-Nepal border at Nabhidhang, Om Parvat is world-famous for the miraculous natural formation of the sacred word "OM" (ॐ) by snow depositing in the mountain's ravines. Witnessing this divine pattern against the stark black rock of the mountain is a once-in-a-lifetime spiritual experience.

Parvati Sarovar & Gauri Kund

At the base of Adi Kailash in Jolingkong lies the pristine Parvati Sarovar, a crystal-clear glacial lake where devotees take a holy dip. A short hike further up leads you to Gauri Kund, another sacred water body reflecting the grandeur of the towering peak, offering deep spiritual solace and breathtaking views.

Frequently asked questions

The yatra is generally operational in two phases. The pre-monsoon phase runs from May to late June, and the post-monsoon phase runs from September to October. These windows offer the safest weather conditions and clear skies for peak viewing.

Yes, absolutely. Because the route lies very close to the sensitive Indo-Tibetan and Nepal borders, a mandatory Inner Line Permit (ILP) must be obtained from the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) office in Dharchula. A fitness certificate and valid ID are required for this.

Unlike earlier years, strenuous multi-day trekking is no longer required! Thanks to recent Border Roads Organisation (BRO) projects, motorable roads now lead up to Jolingkong (Adi Kailash base) and Nabhidhang (Om Parvat base). You will only need to do short walks (2-3 km) around the lakes and viewpoints.

Gunji and Nabi are remote high-altitude Himalayan villages. You should expect very basic, rustic accommodation such as local homestays, simple guesthouses, or KMVN huts. Luxury facilities are not available here, but you will receive warm hospitality and clean, basic amenities.
