Surrounded by dense forests of oak, pine, and rhododendrons, this lake holds mythological significance, believed to be the place where the Pandavas were questioned by the Yaksha. The early morning view of the sun illuminating the snowy peaks mirrored in the crystal-clear water is a photographer’s paradise.
The scenic and authentic Garhwali settlement of Sari acts as the base camp for the Deoria Tal trek. The well-paved, gently sloping 2.5 km trek trail starts from the heart of this village. Surrounded by apple and peach orchards, the village offers a glimpse into peaceful mountain life. The short trek makes this destination incredibly suitable for beginners, nature enthusiasts, and families looking for their first Himalayan trekking experience.

Morning pickup from Dehradun Railway Station/Airport. Begin the beautiful 7-8 hours long drive along the Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers towards Sari Village (via Rudraprayag and Ukhimath). Reach Sari by late afternoon. From here, commence a short 2.5 km (1-1.5 hrs) trek up to Deoria Tal. Check in to your eco-camps/tents located near the lake area. Enjoy the evening sunset. Dinner and overnight stay in camps.
Wake up early to witness the spectacular sunrise over the Chaukhamba peak, beautifully reflecting in the calm waters of Deoria Tal. After breakfast, you can spend the day relaxing by the lake, bird watching, or take an optional guided jungle trail towards Rohini Bugyal through the dense rhododendron forest. Return to your campsite for a peaceful evening around a bonfire (if weather permits). Dinner and overnight stay in camps.
After breakfast, pack your bags and trek down 2.5 kms back to Sari Village. Board your vehicle and commence the return journey to Dehradun. The long scenic drive will take about 7-8 hours. The driver will drop you at Dehradun Railway Station or Airport for your onward journey with wonderful memories of the trek.
