Valley of Flowers, Hemkund Sahib, Ghangaria Base Camp
Nestled high in West Himalaya, the Valley of Flowers National Park is renowned for its meadows of endemic alpine flowers and outstanding natural beauty. Sitting at an altitude of around 3,600 meters, this richly diverse area is also home to rare and endangered animals, including the Asiatic black bear, snow leopard, musk deer, and blue sheep.
The adventure begins with an exhilarating trek from Govindghat (or Pulna village) up to Ghangaria, the base camp for this journey. Traversing alongside the gushing Pushpawati river and ascending through dense forests and cascading waterfalls, the 10-kilometer hike serves as a breathtaking prelude to the colorful valleys above.
Situated at a staggering 4,329 meters, Sri Hemkund Sahib is one of the most revered Sikh shrines in the world. The serene, glacial Hemkund lake reflects the seven snow-capped peaks that surround it. The steep but spiritually rewarding trek from Ghangaria to Hemkund Sahib tests your endurance while granting unparalleled panoramic views.
